We followed a Cheetah mother and Cub for 3 days in Namiri Plains, June 2021. We didn't know their names so I called them Chonkey baby and Mom. Mom was really a good mother, we saw her successfully hunt everyday, and Chonkey Baby was quickly trying to learn all that she could. She watched her mother and tried to copy every move. The last day we had been watching the duo, from a very respectable distance, and after about 10 hours Mom still hadn't made a kill. The sun was going down and we had to be out of the Serengeti park before dark. We waited as long as we could, but finally had to leave. As we started driving away , I turned, and saw animals running. Quickly scanning the horizon, there was Mom chasing down a Thompsons Gazelle , she caught it and we watched her walk towards us with the Thompsons in her mouth, Chonky Baby caught up when Mom stopped to catch her breath. It all happened in our last few minutes , on our last day in this part of the Serengeti. Great ending to a great day for all of us, except for the gazelle. I took a few photos and we quickly had to be on our way.
